Selected sample of the combination of layer Polyvinyl chloride/Polyethylene/Aclar Foil cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm with the help of a GSM plate, then weigh an analytical balance.
Total Grammage= weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm )
Take the total Grammage sample and dip it completely in ethyl acetate until the PVC layer is separated from PE and aclar foil. Dry the remaining layer in a hot air oven at 1100C for 1 min. cool at the desiccator then take weight and analytical balance.
Remaining sample GSM =weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm)
PVC Layer GSM = Total Grammage – Remaining sample GSM
Take the remaining sample dip it completely in toluene and boil for 20 – 25 min PE layer completely dissolves. And the Aclar sample remains undissolved remaining sample is aclar Dry the remaining layer in a hot air oven at 1100C for 2 min. cool at the desiccator then take weight and analytical balance.
GSM of ACLAR Layer = weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm)
GRAMMAGE OF PE Layer = total Grammage – (GSM of ACLAR Layer + PVC Layer GSM)
