PVC Testing procedure

PVC is a type of plastic Polyvinyl chloride. It is the primary packaging material. It is the largest amount of single-use plastic material in the world.it is the lowest cost. PVC Film does not interact with medicine. The compounding versatility for a wide variety of applications good strength properties and a complete range of colors. The compounding soft flexible film to the rigid, strong product.

PVC Film- packaging material

All over the world, 80% of blister packaging. the PVC film is used in the pharmaceutical industry in blister packing. So PVC is mostly used in different roles because it is easily compactable, and easily coated with other products example-PE, PVDC, PAPER, And Aluminium.

It is easily recycled 8 to 10 times without any loss of technical property. PVC has the lowest environmental impact compared to PVC/PVDC and OPA/ALU/PVC.

PVC film is eco-friendly compared to other alternatives. It has a lower climate impact than other products, the sachet is 4x times, as aluminium bottles, glass bottles, and plastics bottles.

PVC’s role is important so we ensure its quality is also better we follow the PVC testing procedure ,

Table of Contents

1. Description:

A clear transparent PVC film made of thermoplastic. Color and transparent. Both side surfaces are smooth. Verify the dust particles do not appear.

2. Width:

with the help of a calibrated measuring scale, measuring the width.

3. Thickness:

measured the thickness with the help of a calibrated digital micrometer

4. Pinhole:

The selected sample tested the pinhole of the PVC sample with the help of an instrument pinhole tester. The sample was plotted on the back of the light background in the light visual, it presence of background light. The sample is easily identified in the sample. It does not observe the hole in the sample. If the sample has a hole light passed the light, it is easily verified in a pinhole. It test is important for foil in pharmaceutical finished product packaging.

5. Toxin and non-toxic:

PVC packaging is the most used packaging material in daily life. It ensures that the sample is non-toxic and free of plasticizers heavy metals, and other particles that provide superior clarity with good chemicals PVC fils have excellent thermo formability properties and it has good dimensional stability.

PVC film is made from monomers. Its monomers are not greater than 1 ppm use. If its monomer is greater than 1 ppm then the results PVC are toxic. The PVC is not toxic, monomers are not more than 1 ppm use.

This test refers to vendor COA.

6. Grammage:

take a sample of PVC. It cut different positions to a different Sample 10 x10 cm with the help of a GSM plate. take sample weight at calibrated analytical balance.

 Calculated by the given formula

                                     Weigh the sample

Grammage =    —————————————x 100 x100

                               Length (cm) x width (cm)

  Units             Gram/m2

7. Identification:

this test is performed by the FTIR Instrument. We take the calibrated FTIR Instrument and the PVC standard and take the specimen sample of PVC Plotted the graph the 3800-650 cm-1 wavelength number.

The spectrum obtained from the specimen exhibits major absorption bands only at the same wavelengths as the spectrum of USP Polyvinyl chloride RS.
