The Paper/PE foil is made from Paper Laminated with PE (polyethylene). There are two types: printed or unprinted foil. The text is printed on the paper. The PE layer is the inner side. Foil is used in the packaging of bulk pharmaceutical products. It is used as sachets and packets. The foil is a good barrier to heat, air, moisture, and environmental conditions. This foil is used in lidding foil and blister foil.
- Total Grammage :
The Paper/PE foil sample is a total Grammage sample cut the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area. The sample if printed removes the text matter with the help of dipped cotton or tissue, rubbing text matter the text matter remove. The sample of the foil weighing at analytical balance, calculating the total Grammage by the given formula
Total Grammage =Wight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
- PE Layer Grammage:
The sample of total Grammage dipped in hot water containing a glass beaker, the foil is easily separated PE Layer from the paper layer. Rubbing the sample with cotton the paper layer is separated. Wash the sample with water and dry it in a hot air oven for 2 min at 650. Cool the sample in the desiccator. Weighing the sample at analytical balance, calculating the PE layer grammage by the given formula,
PE Layer grammage = Wight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
- Paper layer grammage:
The paper layer grammage from the total grammage and PE Layer grammage, by the given formula,
Paper layer grammage = Total grammage – paper layer grammage
