Lacquer Porosity Testing of Aluminium Tube

Regent

  • Copper Sulphate pentahydrate (Cuso4.5H2O)
  • Acetic acid 100 pa (HAc)
  • Wetting agent

                       Or

Electrolyte-mixed copper sulphate solution containing copper sulphate acetic acid and wetting agent

Procedure

  • Set the instrument per the user manuals and follow test parameters for the copper sulphate method of lacquer test as mentioned in the table below.

material

Dipping electrode copper (plastic cap has to be mounted on the bottom of the electrode to avoid direct contact between electrode and tube shoulder adapter electrode stainless steel)

2) Preparation of electrolyte

  • Dissolve 10 g of Cuso4. 5H2O in deionized water, add the HAc and wetting agent and make it 1000 ml ± 2 ml with deionized water.
  • The electrolyte conductivity of the finish solution shall be (4.75 ± 0.25)mS

Readymade solution of electrolyte (mixed copper solution, acetic acid and wetting agent) can be used for analysis

  • The tube to be tested is filled with the electrolyte up to 10 mm from the end and the tube is held in the stainless steel jaw on the apparatus
  • A dipping electrode is inserted centrally into the tube, avoiding any contact between the tube wall/tube shoulder
  • Start the measurement- application of voltage immediately
  • The reading as displayed on the instrument is noted in mA after the measuring interval
  • The limit for the same is as mentioned below.
