Identification Testing of Aluminium by Chemical Method

Regent

1N HCL: Take 8.5 ml of hydrochloric acid in 100 ml of volumetric flask. It is made up of 100 ml and mixed it. It prepared 1N HCL.

6N Ammonium Hydroxide: take 100 ml of volumetric flask add 25 ml of water and add 45 ml of ammonium hydroxide makeup with 100 ml of water.

1N Sodium hydroxide: take a 100 ml volumetric flask and add 25 ml of water weight 4 g of sodium hydroxide. Sonication of the solution and dissolve it. Make up with water at 100 ml.

Thioacetamide regent: take a 100 ml volumetric flask and add 25 ml of water weight 4 g of thioacetamide. Sonication of the solution and dissolve it. Make up with water at 100 ml.

Aluminium foil

Procedure of testing

The aluminium layer from the sample 15 mg of aluminium layer in a glass 200 ml beaker. Put in 30 ml of 1 N HCL Beaker. Heat the solution till aluminium dissolves in that solution add about 1 ml of hydrochloric acid and 1 ml of thioacetamide regent. No precipitate is formed. Add drop-wise 1N NaOH Solution. A gelatinous white precipitate is formed. Which dissolves on further addition of 1N Sodium hydroxide solution after gradually addition of ammonium hydroxide solution gelatinous white precipitate is re-formed
