Grammage Testing Of OPA/Alum/HSL foil

OPA/Alum/OPA Foil
  • Selected sample of the combination of layer-oriented polyamide-aluminum-heat Seal Lacquer layer cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm with the help of a GSM plate, then weighed an analytical balance.
  • Total Grammage = weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm or 5 x 5 cm)
  • Take a sample of the total Grammage and dip the sample in ethyl acetate, after some time HSL is removed from the Polyamide and Alum film. Dry the layer at room temperature for 5 min. take the weight and analytical balance.
  • Grammage of Heat Seal Lacquer = weight in gram x 100 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm )
  • The remaining sample is dipped in sodium hydroxide solution till the aluminium layer dissolves after some time, the polyamide layer remains. Dry the sample in a hot air oven 700 c for 2 min then cool in a desiccator. Take weight in an analytical balance.
  • Grammage of polyamide Layer = weight in gram x 100 (if the sample cut 10 x 10 cm )
  • Grammage of Aluminium layer = total Grammage- (Grammage of HSL Layer+ Grammage of polyamide)
