The alum/PVDC foil made from Aluminium is laminated with PVDC (Polyvinylidene chloride). The foil is the inner side of the PVDC layer and the outer side is the aluminium layer. The foil is two types printed and unprinted. The printing text matter on the aluminium layer side. The foil is the blister packaging packaging material. The pharmaceutical finished products are tablets, capsules, bulk and powder. The foil is a barrier to heat, air, moisture, and environmental conditions.

- Total Grammage:
The sample of Alum/PVDC foil total Grammage testing cut the 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 (as applicable) with the help of GSM Plate. If the sample is printed remove the text matter, cotton or cloth dipped in ethyl acetate rubbing on the text matter, after removing the text matter dry the sample at room temperature. Weighing the sample at analytical balance, calculating the total Grammage by the given formula,
Total Grammage = weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2)
- Aluminium Grammage:
The sample of total Grammage dip in ethyl acetate containing glass beaker. Completely dip the sample in the sample. After some time aluminium and PVDC layers are separated. After 15-20 minutes both layer is separated. Wash the sample with water, and dry the sample in a hot air oven for 2 min at 650c. Cool the sample in a desiccator. Weighing the sample at analytical balance. Calculated the Grammage by the given formula,
Aluminium Grammage= weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2)
PVDC Grammage = weight in gram x 100 or 400 (if the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2)
