
The Alum/PP foil is made from the aluminium layer laminated with a PP (polypropylene) layer. It is foil two-type printed or unprinted foil, the printing text matter is on the aluminium layer side, and the pp layer is the inner side. The sample foil is the packaging of the pharmaceutical finished products like tablets, and capsules. This foil is used for packaging and it is a good barrier to moisture, heat, and other environmental conditions.
- Total Grammage:
The sample Alum/PP Foil is testing the total Grammage. The sample cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area (if applicable). The sample is printed then the printing text matter is removed, and the cotton or tissue roll is dipped in ethyl acetate. Rubbing on the printed aluminium side. Then after removing the text matter and weighing the sample at an analytical balance, calculate the Grammage by the given formula,
Total Grammage = weight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample is cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
- For PP Layer Grammage:
The sample of total Grammage dipped in a glass beaker containing 10% sodium hydroxide (the 10% sodium hydroxide making, take 10 grams of sodium hydroxide pallets in 50 ml water and dissolve and sonication the solution make up to 100 ml solution) then, after some time the aluminium layer is dissolved. The remaining sample pp layer. Dry the sample in a hot air oven for 2 min at 650c. Cool the sample in a desiccator, weigh the sample at an analytical balance, and calculate the Grammage by the given formula,
PP layer Grammage = weight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample is cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
