The paper/alum/LDPE foil is made from the making components of paper, aluminium, and LDPE (low-density polyethylene). The aluminium layer is laminating paper on one side and the other side laminating LDPE layer. The paper side is the outer side foil and LDPE foil is the inner side of the foil. There are two types printed and unprinted foil, the text matter printed on the paper layer side. The LDPE layer is a good barrier to moisture, heat, air, and other environmental conditions. This foil is used for pharmaceutical finished product packaging like tablets, capsules, and bulks. This foil is used as blister packs.
- Total Grammage:
The sample testing of total Grammage testing cut the sample 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area with the help of a GSM plate. Removing the text matter with the cotton or cloth-dipped ethyl acetate. Rubbing on the text matter removes it. Dry the sample at room temperature. Weighing the sample at analytical balance. Calculation by the given formula,
Total Grammage = weight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample is cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
- Paper Grammage:
The total Grammage sample was dipped in hot water and contained a glass beaker. The sample was rubbed on the cotton or cloth, and after rubbing the sample the Paper layer removing from the Alum/LDPE Layer. Washed with water the remaining sample Alum/LDPE layer. Dry the sample in a hot air oven for 2 minutes at 650c. Cooled the sample in a desiccator. Weighing the sample at analytical balance, calculating the paper Grammage by the given formula,
Alum/LDPE Grammage = weight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample is cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
Paper Grammage = total Grammage – Alum/LDPE Grammage
- Aluminium Grammage:
The sample of Alum/LDPE Layer Grammage was dipped in a glass beaker containing acetone. The sample boils on a hot plate the solution boils the sample LDPE layer to dissolve. The remaining sample Aluminium layer. The Aluminium layer dries the sample in the hot oven for 2 min at 650c. Cool the sample in a desiccator. Weighing the sample at analytical balance, calculating the Aluminium layer Grammage by the given formula,
Aluminium Grammage = weight in grams x 100 or 400 (if the sample is cut 10 x 10 cm2 or 5 x 5 cm2 area)
- LDPE Layer Grammage:
The LDPE layer Grammage by calculating Grammage Alum/LDPE Grammage and Aluminium layer Grammage,
